Library

Our libraries are inspiring, welcoming and effective, they act as a powerhouse of learning and reading within the school. Our boys can see themselves in the books they read. We have been awarded the CWIG ‘Reading for Pleasure Award’ by Sir Phillip Pullman, the President of the Society of Authors.

St Martin’s has welcomed countless authors, and these include Cressida Cowell, Sir Michael Morpurgo, Charlie Higson, Robin Stevens, David Baddiel, Chris Ryan, Joe Craig, Chris Riddell, Daljit Nagra, Chris Bradford and Mark Walden. We are also fortunate enough to have our own Patron of Reading, Matt Oldfield, who regularly takes assemblies and leads Literacy workshops.

The Main School Library is used by Year 5-8 boys who have a library lesson once a week. The library is also open at break and lunch times. As well as a vast selection of fiction and non-fiction books, the boys can also access audio books and e-books on the iPads in the library and at home.
