At St. Martin’s School, we believe that sports should be available to everyone, regardless of their abilities. From Nursery to Year 8, our students receive specialised instruction in PE and Games, taught by expert teachers.

Our structured games programme, which includes regular fixtures, provides our boys with the opportunity to engage in a variety of sports. Wednesday afternoons are reserved for matches for our boys in Years 5 to 8, while Tuesday and Thursday are designated for years 3 and 4.

We offer structured PE lessons weekly throughout the year. Our curriculum includes: swimming, fitness, athletics, basketball, badminton, and table tennis.

Swimming is held in our indoor heated teaching pool, while our four-badminton court sized sports hall (with four indoor cricket lanes), hockey astro (with three marked tennis courts), and expertly manicured pitches serve as venues for other activities.

Our sports programmme includes a range of activities, ensuring that students can participate in a way that suits their interests and capabilities.

Autumn Term is dedicated to football, with the 1st IX and Colts A entering the National Cup and 6-a-side competition in addition to participating in local tournaments. The 1st IX even has the chance to tour and play at the home of England at St George’s Park. While football is the primary focus, we also provide opportunities for swimming, basketball, table tennis, badminton, and orienteering.

In the Spring Term, rugby and hockey take centre stage, with opportunities for cross-country running, basketball, swimming, and orienteering. Our hockey teams compete in the IAPS Hockey at U11 and U13 level and are given the chance to tour and play at Bisham Abbey.

Cricket is the main sport in the Summer Term, but students also participate in swimming, athletics, and tennis. Our 1st XI cricketers look forward to the biennial cricket tour abroad, which has previously travelled to Antigua, Sri Lanka, and Barbados during the Easter holiday. We have a grass square, AstroTurf and flix wicket, as well as three brand new outdoor nets available for the boys to use. We also collaborate with local cricket clubs to provide more opportunities for students to participate in fixtures.
