Former England bowler and test selector Angus Fraser, who is also managing director of cricket at Middlesex CC, visited St Martin’s with county players Ollie Rayner and Nick Gubbins. They spent the afternoon with the Under 11 and 13 boys helping them with their fielding, batting and bowling aided by specialist fielding coach Gavin Twining.
Rohan P said ‘the session was brilliant and helped me develop my all round skills, especially my sweep shot’. Krish D said ‘it was great and I felt my batting improved following the advice given.”
The boys then had the opportunity to ask a variety of questions and found out who the fastest bowler Nick Gubbins had faced, he said it was follow county player Steve Finn. They even asked Angus if there would be a return for a well-known Surrey batsman to the England team. The response was played with a straight bat, so there was no further insight into who would be picked for the next test match.
Thank you to the Middlesex players for giving up their time. The boys appreciated that the players signed their bats as a memento of the day.Return to news
